- Paris : Seuil, 2021 . - 1 vol. However, the impacts of these different urban dynamics on green space have not yet been systematically and quantitatively assessed. Therefore, this research emphasizes the impacts of urban dynamics on green space in urban regions using a multiple scenario modeling approach. Titre : The lean farm : how to minimize waste, increase efficiency, and maximize value and profits with less work / Autre titre : H Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ben Hartman Importance : xii, 240 pages Présentation : illustrations (chiefly color) Format : 26 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-60358-592-7 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 631.584 Agriculture biologique Résumé : To many people today, using the words “factory” and “farm” in the same sentence is nothing short of sacrilege. In many cases, though, the same sound business practices apply whether you are producing cars or carrots. Author Ben Hartman and other young farmers are increasingly finding that incorporating the best new ideas from business into their farming can drastically cut their wastes and increase their profits, making their farms more environmentally and economically sustainable. By explaining the lean system for identifying and eliminating waste and introducing efficiency in every aspect of the farm operation, The Lean Farm makes the case that small-scale farming can be an attractive career option for young people who are interested in growing food for their community. Working smarter, not harder, also prevents the kind of burnout that start-up farmers often encounter in the face of long, hard, backbreaking labor.
Lean principles grew out of the Japanese automotive industry, but they are now being followed on progressive farms around the world. Using examples from his own family’s one-acre community-supported farm in Indiana, Hartman clearly instructs other small farmers in how to incorporate lean practices in each step of their production chain, from starting a farm and harvesting crops to training employees and selling goods. While the intended audience for this book is small-scale farmers who are part of the growing local food movement, Hartman’s prescriptions for high-value, low-cost production apply to farms and businesses of almost any size or scale that hope to harness the power of lean in their production processes. The lean farm : how to minimize waste, increase efficiency, and maximize value and profits with less work / ; H [texte imprimé] / Ben Hartman . - [s.d.] . - xii, 240 pages : illustrations (chiefly color) ; 26 cm.

ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-367-26001-9 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 630.1 Agroécologie Résumé : "Today, 20 percent of the global food supply relies on urban agriculture: social-ecological systems shaped by both human and non-human interactions. This book shows how urban agroecologists measure flora and fauna that underpin the ecological dynamics of these systems, and how people manage and benefit from these systems. It explains how the sociopolitical landscape in which these systems are embedded can in turn shape the social, ecological, political, and economic dynamics within them. Synthesizing interdisciplinary approaches in urban agroecology in the natural and social sciences, the book explores methodologies and new directions in research that can be adopted by scholars and practitioners alike.
With contributions from researchers utilizing both social and natural science approaches, Urban Agroecology describes the current social-environmental understandings of the science, the movement and the practices in urban agroecology. By investigating the role of agroecology in cities, the book calls for the creation of spaces for food to be sustainably grown in urban spaces: an Urban Agriculture (UA) movement. Essential reading for graduate students, practitioners, policy makers and researchers, this book charts the course for accelerating this movement."Urban agroecology [texte imprimé] / Monika Egerer, Editeur scientifique ; Hamutahl Cohen, Editeur scientifique . - Boca Raton, FL : CRC Press : London : Taylor & Francis distributor, 2021 . - Couv. ill. en coul. 347 p.
